Mountain View School Division has hosted Graduation Powwows for the past eight years within the Parkland. Powwows represent the coming of ALL people together, all of us that walk on Mother Earth living together within our communities with respect, peace, and harmony. When Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples come together in dance, we are celebrating life and all of us having healthy, balanced lives; what is known in the Ojibway language as Mino-Pimatisiwin.
Due to the pandemic last year and this year, we have not been able to host this event. We decided this year to create a virtual Graduation Powwow and honour all graduates in this format. We will be releasing a video production in June and would like to honour ALL graduates within our school communities. As we continue to work within Truth and Reconciliation, this video production is a great opportunity for us to come together and honour our graduates.
The process is very simple: please submit your name and grad photo by Friday, May 28th to [email protected] to be included within this 3-minute video. Once completed, our virtual Graduation Powwow will be released on all social media platforms so all community members can acknowledge and honour our 2020-2021 graduates.
